A German Pinscher was used to guard the stable, and they still have a great deal of guarding-instinct. A German Pinscher kills (and eats) rats and mice. As its origin it is the same dog as schnauzer : before it was smooth- and rough-haired pinschers, and in 1892 were these rough-haired pinschers named schnauzer.

  Strong, length in ratio 1 to 2 in relation to back, foreface straight and on the line with even and flat forehead, biting muscles strong but cheek not too visible/prominent, foreface deep and wedge-shaped, muzzle-end rich and black, tight and black lips

  Regular and complete scissorbite

  Noble bended, strong, dry, no dewlap in the throat, not for short or thick

Front legs:
  Strong and straight, elbows tight aside body, shoulder musculature strong and flat

Body:
  Chest wide, forechest well formed and prominent visible, underline lightly rising backwards, cross short so that a dog seems to be tight, lenght of the body is about hight at shoulder, back short and lightly sinking, withers strong, pelvis weakly rounded
Back legs:
  Muscular, hock well angulated

  Short, round, tight
Tail:
  High-set, upstanding

Hair:
  Short, tight, no bare spots, smooth, shining
